On the Island - Kanuhura Maldives

The 26 natural atolls which make up the Maldives, contain some 1200 coral islands, infinite sandbanks and reeds spread over 90,000 square kilometres of Indian Ocean.

Only 200 of these islands are inhabited, while an additional 90 have been transformed into resorts.

  

Tropical in climate, the Maldives has two significant seasons; the north-east monsoon, from December to March, is light and fairly dry, while the south-west monsoon, from June to November, occasionally brings brief downpours followed by sunshine.

The temperature ranges from mid-20sto mid-30s and is highest in April and May
