Diving in the Maldives at the Sun Dive Centre
The amazing opportunities for diving in the Maldives attract divers from all over the world seeking natural wonders. The Kanuhura lagoon and the unexploited surrounding waters of the Lhaviyani Atoll provide endless opportunities for marine exploration, from scuba diving excursions and PADI certification courses to guided snorkelling trips. This atoll at Kanuhura, Maldives, is known for its stunning underwater fauna and marine life, offering some of the best dive sites in the world. Diving around Kanuhura in a lagoon in the Maldives is an unforgettable experience.
The out reef at Kanuhura drops down to more than 1,200 m. Because of this extreme depth pelagic fish life is not rare and makes this area a divers paradise. Thilas, Giris, drop offs, out reefs, corners and channel crossings give our guests a great variety of eventful dives. On our regular diving excursions, at 9.00 a.m. and 2.30 p.m., we will bring you within 10 to 60 minutes to one of 40 dive sites we can offer. You will be guided in small groups and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Three times a week we organise guided night dives, where you can observe nocturnal creatures. During a full day excursion you can reach interesting dive spots in the west. Unexplored dive sites in the south of the atoll can also be discovered. Nowhere else in the Maldives will you have the opportunity, to dive at two wrecks in one dive. During a leisurely 45-minute-boat ride by Dhoni, we also pass a few tropical desert islands before we reach the two shipwrecks at Felivaru. One of them is already recognisable from a distance! It rises with its burnt-out bow about 10 m above the surface, hiding its stern in almost 30 m of depth.
